Whenever visiting a new destination, I always do plenty of research beforehand about where I want to go and the things I want to see. I’m always concerned that I won’t know enough about an area, and then I’ll miss out on the best experiences a place has to offer. When I visit Niagara Falls in future, this certainly won’t be the case. Here are the top attractions worth visiting…
1. Stay in a room with a view
Who could come to Niagara and not see the iconic Horseshoe Falls? Luckily, you don’t have to get up close and personal if that’s not your style; instead, book a room at the Niagara Falls Marriott hotel, and you’ll be guaranteed to have a room with a spectacular view, so that you can enjoy the Falls simply by eating breakfast in bed!
2. Take the Hornblower Cruise
If you’d rather get a closer look at the Falls, hop onto a catamaran leaving from just outside your hotel room, and sale down Niagara River. You’ll be able to take plenty of snaps of the American, Bridal Veil and Horseshoe Falls, before being soaked to the skin, as you’ll sail right up to the base.
3. Ride the Aerocar
If you’re not afraid of heights, then the vintage Aerocar experience is unforgettable. Now in service for over 100 years (having taken its first set of passengers out in 1916), this cable car will take you out above Niagara’s Whirlpool. Suspended at a height of 200 feet, you’ll be at the very heart of this watery wonder, with panoramic views everywhere you turn.
4. Take the Zipline
If the Aerocar isn’t thrilling enough for you, then why not try out the brand new Niagara attraction: the MistRider Zipline? Newly-opened last year and situated 220 feet above the gorge, the ziplines you’ll be using traverse a length of 2,200 feet at a speed of around 70 kph. This ride is strictly for the thrill-seekers!
5. Escape the room
I’m sure you’ll have come across these puzzle escape rooms before, but they’ve become just as successful in Canada as they have the world over! Lock yourself and a group of friends in a room, and use your wit and intelligence to solve the many challenges to reach your goal: freedom! With mysteries to uncover and many twists to discover, this is the ideal activity if you’re travelling in a group.
6. Take a Safari
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll be right at home amongst the many inhabitants of Safari Niagara. In fact, there are over 750 different species of animals, from reptiles to birds, not to mention the paddle boats, rope courses, kite flying, petting zoo and much more besides. If this only whets the appetite, you’ll also find Bird Kingdom only a short distance away.
