The Cirque du Soleil shows are among the grandest entertainment spectacles that combine elements of circus and acrobats with music and dance. The shows are carried out by performers who stretch the human body to incredible limits. The performance acts together with the music, costumes and design elements, all combine to make a remarkable show that is a spectacle everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime. Cirque du Soleil shows are held at different venues and each show is unique. Here is a list of the top five shows.
Held in a custom built theater at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, La Nouba has received critical acclaim for being one of the best Cirque du Soleil shows to ever be staged. La Nouba, is a grand spectacle with dancers, gymnasts and acrobats, performed by a cast of sixty seven members from across the world. The “O” is the resident show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The theme of this Cirque du Soleil show is water and the stage is made of a large pool of water and all performances are centered around, in or above this pool. The acts include synchronized swimming and aqua aerobics, as well as aerial stunts and ground acts. The Bellagio “O” Cirque du Soleil aquatic performance is a definite watch.
As is the case with most Cirque du Soleil performances, LOVE is a stunning spectacle. This show makes heavy use of multimedia to enhance the dancing, acrobats and aerial performances with video effects projected onto a screen. The soundtrack at this show really differentiates it from other Cirque du Soleil shows as the entire soundtrack revolves around The Beatles’ Love Soundtrack. It is the resident show at The Mirage in Las Vegas.
Mystère is the first resident show to be staged in Las Vegas and really set the standard for all the Cirque du Soleil shows that were introduced after it. Mystère is a combination of Greek theater, mime, and Charlie Chaplin style comedy. An exploration of human emotions, this performance is both fun and lighthearted but also poignant.
This show follows a linear story about twins who have been separated and their individual journeys towards their destiny. The show follows the twins’ journeys as they travel across different landscapes and meet different creatures along the way. The show is a combination of dramatic acts, elaborate costumes, and acrobatic feats, all staged on a technologically complex stage.(Image by Suzanne Jager)
The mentioned shows are only a few shows in the Cirque du Soleil shows lineup. While all the shows are truly a spectacle in their own right, they are also very different and one wouldn’t get bored even watching any Cirque du Soleil show even after already having watched a few. Cirque du Soleil and Club Med, the pioneers of the all-inclusive vacation concept now have a partnership, known as Club Med Creative, where guestsof Club Med resorts have an opportunity to experience Cirque du Soleil shows and allow travelers to learn some of the circus techniques.
