Ugali (Cornmeal Staple)
Ugali is undeniably Kenyan most common staple food, the dish is made from corn meal that is added to boiling water and stirred till it becomes a dense block or paste of cornmeal. Githeri (Beans and Corn)
Unlike what the name suggest, this dish is not too complicated, its just a dish that comprise of boiled beans, corn kennels that can be mixed with some vegetables. This combination of food is highly nutritious and can be ideal if complemented with some chilies, hot pepper or some chapatti.
Kenyan Pilau (Spiced Rice)
Pilau is a fro mf glorified combination of cooked rice that has some bursting flavors of cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and cumin. The rice is very fragrant and quite fantastic especially if it’s accompanied with some meat stew with some slices of onions or tomatoes. Another form of it is Biriyani which is also some spiced rice, mostly its popular on the Kenyan coast as well as Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Waliwa Nazi (Coconut Rice)
Waliwa Nazi is a form of coconut rice that’s mostly popular along the coast of Indian Ocean. The rice prepared with grated coconut meat which gives the boiled rice dome fragrant twist of smell. Sukuma Wiki (Collard Greens / Kale)
A collard green which is a form of kale is what is known as Sukuma wiki and is undoubtedly the most popular vegetable dish in Kenya. The dish is very nutritious; it can be cooked with diced onions and tomatoes which can further be flavored with some sprinkles of mchuzi mix or a stock cube to give them a sweet aroma and a finger licking taste.
